  • Wednesday GloSpotlight:
4 Zimbabwean Sommeliers Who Took on the World Blind

Today we’re spotlighting one moment that changed everything: _Blind Ambition_.

Tinashe Nyamudoka, Joseph T Dhafana, Pardon Taguzu, and Marlvin Gwese came together as a team with no funding, no industry backing, and a goal that sounded crazy — compete at the World Blind Wine Tasting Championships in France. They trained in Harare, blind tasting with what they had, and crowdfunded their way to the global stage.

They walked into a room of the world’s best sommeliers and held their own. That moment put Zimbabwean wine on the map and proved our palates belong anywhere.

    Here’s who they are individually:

*1. Tinashe Nyamudoka – Kumusha Wines*
Sommelier turned founder. His brand Kumusha is built on African identity, premium blends, and telling Zimbabwean stories through every bottle.

    *2. Joseph T Dhafana – Mosi Wines & Spirits*
First black African to win Best Sommelier in South Africa. He brought that expertise home to create Mosi — bold, rooted, and internationally recognized.

    *3. Pardon Taguzu – Madzimbahwe*
Educator and blender. Pardon created Madzimbahwe to make wine relatable to African palates, using local fruit and flavors we actually grew up with.

*4. Marlvin Gwese – Mukanya Wines*
Storyteller and hospitality pro. Mukanya celebrates Zimbabwean culture, with every label and sip rooted in heritage.

One team. Four brands. One message: Zimbabwean excellence doesn’t wait for permission.

Watch _Blind Ambition_DocuFilm on Amazon Prime Video.

  • Part 2: Demystifying Moonlighting…by DocMari

There is always a starting point even in hopeless situations

    2King4 :1-7

What do you have in your hand ?

    | **Teller/Clerk** | Money handling, KYC, trust | Mobile money agent, mukando treasurer, SME bookkeeping |
    | **Driver** | Routes, timekeeping, reliability | Evening deliveries, school runs, farm produce transport |
    | **Cleaner/Guard** | Consistency, attention to detail | Cleaning services for SMEs, laundry, office plants care |
*You’re not “just a worker.” You’re a skilled person renting your skill too cheap. Start selling it directly, one hour at a time.*

*4. So How Do You Keep Joy When Pay is Little?*

    1. *Rename your job*: Don’t say “I’m a clerk.” Say “I’m a clerk funding my catering business.” The name changes the feeling.
    2. *Celebrate small wins*: First $1 profit? Take a photo. That’s your first day as an owner.
    3. *Find your people*: Join 3 others at work. Start a savings group. $5 each = $20 capital next month.
    (Allwomen.africa)
    4. *Rest, don’t quit*: You’re tired because you’re carrying _only_ the job. A side project gives energy. It’s yours.

    *Money Matters

Money is everyone’s happy place! Find yours!

    Mari idera onoteverera good idea…*

Low pay is a season. Ownership is a decision.*

Vision 2030 will not be built by people who waited for perfect salaries.

It will be built by disgruntled workers who got strategic.

Who used the job to learn, the night to earn, and the market to turn small into something.

    Today we honour your labour.

    Tomorrow, let’s honour your launch.

*Work with dignity. Moonlight with purpose. And never stop preparing to own.*

    *Fambai nebasa. Asi muzofamba nebusiness.*

    Happy Workers’ Day.

    Zimbabwe Independence Day — April 18, 2026

Tomorrow Zimbabwe celebrates 46 years of independence.

Main celebrationswill be held at MAPHISA Open Space, Matobo District, Matabeleland South.
The venue was chosen to honor the legacy of the late Vice President Dr Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo, a founding father of the liberation struggle who hailed from the district.

It’s also part of the Government’s rotational system to promote development and unity across all provinces.

Across the country, different provinces, towns, and cities are also gearing up with their own celebrations — musical concerts, community parties, and food festivals marking the day.

Masvingo is set to host the main event in 2027 under the rotation.

The *Children’s Party* will follow afterwards as well.

    Happy Independence Day, Zimbabwe.

  • GRAVITY IS MERCY BUT WAR IS THE REASON

At 40,000ft, gravity is the only thing that shows mercy.
    It ends pain fast.
War is the reason it has to.
It made a child into a bomb and a hero into a murderer.

    Hondo Mukanya has 2 choices:
Open the door and become a monster.
Keep it shut and bury everyone.

    There is no third option.
