  • Just in
Zimbabwe's Tourism Market Expansion gained significant traction in Sydney, Australia, as the country intensified its strategic engagement with the Australian travel trade through a high-level Tourism Industry Roundtable convened by the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA) and the Zimbabwe Embassy in Australia.
Bringing together more than 50 Australian Tour Wholesalers, Tour Operators and Travel Agencies at Ace Hotel, the engagement advanced Zimbabwe's drive to grow market share, stimulate destination demand and unlock new Tourism business opportunities in one of its key long-haul source markets. Addressing the Industry leaders, the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry Hon Barbara Rwodzi, reaffirmed Zimbabwe's Engagement and Re-Engagement agenda under the guiding principles of "Zimbabwe is Open for Business" and "Zimbabwe is a Friend to All and an Enemy to None," positioning the country as a safe, peaceful and competitive African destination for Leisure, Investment and Business Tourism while underscoring the enduring ties between Zimbabwe and Australia.

Highlighting Tourism as a strategic economic growth pillar, Minister Rwodzi showcased Zimbabwe's globally acclaimed attractions, including Victoria Falls, Great Zimbabwe, Lake Kariba, Hwange National Park and the Eastern Highlands, while encouraging the Australian travel trade to promote longer Tourist stays that generate higher Tourism expenditure and wider community benefits. She further outlined Zimbabwe's Cluster-based Tourism development strategy, drawing attention to expanding opportunities in Rural Tourism, Religious Tourism, Community-based Tourism, Culture and Heritage Tourism and Sports Tourism, with the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup, to be co-hosted by Zimbabwe, Namibia and South Africa.

*RUM & ROOTS LANDS AT OMNI AI FILM FESTIVAL 2026 — UNSW SYDNEY | FOUNDERS*

Harare, Zimbabwe — 26 July 2026 — Zimbabwean filmmaker Adelaide ‘Segan’ Ganyani announces that her AI-powered short film _RUM & ROOTS_ has been officially selected for the OMNI AI FILM FESTIVAL 2026.

The film will screen at UNSW SYDNEY | FOUNDERS, joining a global lineup of stories pushing the edge of what AI and cinema can do together.

Set in rural Hwange, “Where Tradition, Wine and Wilderness Unite Us” follows Zuri, a filmmaker from the diaspora, and Tinashe, a young man reclaiming his family’s baobab wine legacy. It’s a story of memory, loss, and renewal — told through Zimbabwean roots and built with AI tools.

After showings in London and at AI for Good 2026, _RUM & ROOTS_ continues its journey. This Sydney selection puts African innovation and heritage on one of the world’s biggest AI film stages.

“This is bigger than a screening,” said Adelaide Ganyani. “It’s proof. That our stories matter. That our tools are here. That a claypot in Hwange can speak to a room in Sydney. This is for every young creative in Africa building with what they have.”
