Marondera Rural District Council
Marondera RDC is located in Mashonaland East Province. It shares boundary with Seke to the west, Hwedza to the south, Makoni to the east (Manicaland), and Murewa to the north. The district is found approximately 72 kilometers away from Harare in the eastern direction. Marondera District covers approximately, 3,4141km which boasts of its agriculture and mining economy. The district serves 37,361 households with an average size of 3.6.

The appropriate climatic conditions, areas of natural and undisturbed woodland, perennial river systems, home to terrific archaeological sites as well as cultural and religious heritage sites enhances tourism investment. The district has got 19 clinics. Council is a spoke in the hub and spoke programme for gender mainstreaming mentored by Murehwa RDC

  • MUAST AND MUREWA RDC SIGN MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
    The Marondera University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (MUAST) and the Murewa Rural District Council (RDC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening collaboration in research, innovation, and community development initiatives.
    The Murewa RDC delegation, led by Council Chairperson, Elder Amos Gutu, and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Alois M. Gurajena, was received by the Vice Chancellor of MUAST, Professor Justice Nyamangara.
    Both Prof Nyamangara and Dr Gurajena emphasised the importance of operationalising the MoU, urging both parties to ensure that the agreement translates into tangible programmes and does not simply “gather dust” on the shelf. In his remarks, Dr Gurajena expressed appreciation for the partnership and pledged the council’s full cooperation in the implementation of this MoU. He also encouraged the council to initiate collaborative programmes that can leverage the university’s expertise to provide solutions to local challenges.
    The MoU is expected to foster closer cooperation between the two institutions, creating opportunities for knowledge sharing, research, innovation, and sustainable development in Murewa District and the wider Mashonaland East Province
