Since the commencement of the Expo yesterday, the Ministry has been actively engaging stakeholders and showcasing various programmes and initiatives aimed at empowering persons with disabilities through entrepreneurship, skills development, and economic inclusion.

Engagement with Kadoma City Council Underway
This afternoon we are engaging with Kadoma City Council as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen climate resilience and sustainable urban development.
The City Fund engagement follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kadoma City Council in 2021. The meeting brings together 12 councillors and key city departments to share the Alliance’s work with policymakers and set the stage for council commitment and investment towards the newly established Kadoma City Fund.
Building climate-resilient cities requires strong partnerships between communities, local authorities, and development actors. Together, we can support inclusive solutions that respond to the realities faced by urban communities.

Council is fully committed to delivering serviced stands at Figtree Phase 3 and is pleased to report significant on-site progress made over the past several weeks.

Excavation of the water reticulation network is currently underway in preparation for pipe laying, with trenches being dug along the main access roads of Figtree Phase 3. Following the excavation teams, pipe laying has commenced, with heavy-duty water pipes being installed section by section. The works are being carried out in coordination with ZINWA to ensure compliance with national water infrastructure standards.

In addition, road formation is in progress, with graders shaping the road profile ahead of graveling and drainage works. BRDC confirms that road formation is advancing alongside the waterworks to ensure both critical infrastructure components are delivered together.
Visible development improvements are also underway, including the installation of streetlights throughout the Figtree RSC, expected to enhance security and accessibility, particularly in the evenings, while reflecting the area’s gradual transformation into a proper residential suburb.

Further, a grave site identified within the development area has been formally fenced off, bringing order to the site and clearly demarcating it within the broader community landscape.

Mberengwa RDC have been busy utilising devolution funds to shape up the district. The Marirazhombe and Bayayi clinic are some of the projects that are currently underway and are progressing very well. The building have already been roofed and plastered and currently builders are working on skirting.

This development will help a lot of people in communities around the areas. People used to travel long distances to get treatment or maternity facilities. It will come as a relief to many people because of transport shortages costs. Since clinics mainly provide non-emergence outpatient care thats routine and preventive, this will help reduce congestion at hospitals and allow hospital staff to focus mainly on inpatient care. “I am glad to be part of this winning team that is constructing a clinic that will benefit all of us at the end of the day. We thank the Government for the devolution funds", says one woman from the Bayayi community who is assisting in the project.

Mberengwa RDC sees this as a step up the ladder since it is their duty to make sure that communities have working health facilities. Florence Khumalo, councillor for ward 20 said the clinic was coming at the right time when population in the area was increasing yet there are no health facilities. She said council had provided cement and other building materials while the villagers were coming in with labour and pit and river sand which they get within their locality. “This clinic which is under Chief Ngungumbane area will serve three other wards which is a welcome development in terms of service delivery. The villagers must have such services within their wards in line with the devolution agenda set by the Government,” said Clr Khumalo.

We are also prioritizing resource optimization, identifying opportunities for better resource allocation to maximize our impact in service delivery and community projects. A risk management assessment is underway to identify potential challenges and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring we are prepared for any obstacles that may arise.

Moreover, we are working to enhance partnerships with governmental and non-governmental organizations to support community initiatives and development. Finally, we are creating ongoing engagement strategies to ensure continuous community involvement and communication regarding our plans and progress.

As the workshop continues, we remain committed to serving our community effectively and sustainably.
