by Komet
NASA’s next eye in the sky is almost ready.
Meet the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope.
Launching: August 30, 2026
Ride: SpaceX Falcon Heavy from Kennedy Space Center
Destination: L2, same spot as James Webb
Why it matters:
- Field of view 100x bigger than Hubble
- Will map dark energy, dark matter, and billions of galaxies
- Will hunt thousands of exoplanets using microlensing
- Will send back 20,000 terabytes of data in 5 years
Roman arrived at Kennedy Space Center on June 21 and is 8 months ahead of schedule.
This is set to be the biggest exploration asset NASA has put in space yet.
The universe is about to get a whole lot clearer.
