The Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Hon. Senator Monica Mutsvangwa, today attended the appointment and induction of the Boards of Trustees for 15 Community Economic Empowerment Trusts (CEETs) in Kadoma.

Hon. Mutsvangwa described the establishment of the Trusts as a significant milestone in ensuring that ordinary Zimbabweans derive meaningful benefits from the natural resources found within their communities.

She urged the newly appointed Trustees to embrace the Whole-of-Government approach, uphold the highest standards of transparency, accountability and good governance, and ensure the sustainable utilisation of local resources for the benefit of present and future generations.
The Minister noted that the Trusts provide an opportunity to strengthen community participation in local economic development while addressing lessons learnt from previous community empowerment initiatives. She reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to working with all stakeholders to promote inclusive development and improve the livelihoods of communities across the country.

Speaking at the same event, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland West Province, Hon. Marian Chombo, said the Trusts would play a critical role in driving rural industrialisation, promoting value addition, attracting investment and creating employment opportunities in line with Vision 2030.

Officially commissioning the Boards of Trustees, the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Hon. Mangaliso Ndlovu, said the Community Economic Empowerment Trusts are grounded in the Constitution of Zimbabwe and are guided by four pillars: true local ownership, broad-based participation, industrial localisation and economic sovereignty. He said the Trusts will help mobilise investment, establish industrial parks and Village Business Units, and promote value addition to local agricultural and mineral resources.

The induction conference was also attended by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Matabeleland South Province, Hon. Albert Ngulube, the Deputy Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Hon. Kiven Mutimbanyoka, traditional leaders and members of the newly appointed Community Economic Empowerment Trust Boards.

UMP RDC officials today visited the new Black Granite Cutting and Polishing Plant currently under construction by Sino Africa Sunrise in Chimhodzi Area, Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe.
This landmark investment is a significant step towards the attainment of Zimbabwe's Vision 2030 and aligns with the Government's Rural Industrialisation agenda, which seeks to bring industries, jobs, and economic opportunities closer to rural communities.
The project is already making a positive impact on local livelihoods, with the construction phase employing more than 100 local people from surrounding communities. Upon completion, the plant is expected to create even more employment opportunities while adding value to the district's abundant black granite resources.

UMP Zvataida Rural District Council officials recently visited a mineral exploration and research site in Chigombe Village, Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe, where Pan African is conducting investigations to identify the different types of minerals found within the district.
The exploration programme represents an important step towards unlocking the district's mineral potential and creating opportunities for sustainable economic growth. Engagement with Kadoma City Council Underway
This afternoon we are engaging with Kadoma City Council as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen climate resilience and sustainable urban development.
The City Fund engagement follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kadoma City Council in 2021. The meeting brings together 12 councillors and key city departments to share the Alliance’s work with policymakers and set the stage for council commitment and investment towards the newly established Kadoma City Fund.

The City of Kadoma convened a breakfast meeting with local mining community representatives to discuss and explore business investment opportunities, and strategies for the betterment of Kadoma.

The meeting brought together small-scale miners, mining industry representatives, local business leaders, and Council officials to explore ways of leveraging Kadoma's rich mineral resources to drive sustainable development and job creation.
Addressing the stakeholders, the Acting Town Clerk Mr Mangwengwende highlighted Kadoma's strategic position in the gold-mining area as a low hanging fruit crucial in driving the City's economic growth. He indicated that it was therefore imperative for Kadoma and the mining sector to forge stronger relationship in order to build a prosperous City.
Discussions focused on improving investment, supporting formalisation of small-scale mining operations, and developing value-addition industries linked to mining activities. Kadoma's economy is heavily influenced by mining, particularly gold production, making the sector a key driver of local economic activity.
Speaking during the engagement, the miners welcomed the dialogue and called for improved ease of doing business with council, favourable supportive regulatory frameworks that would enable the sector to speed up their productivity such as response timeframe of proposals and contribute more effectively to local economic development.
City authorities reaffirmed their commitment to creating a business-friendly environment that attracts both domestic and international prospective investors. The meeting concluded with a commitment from stakeholders to continue engaging on initiatives that promote investment, employment creation, and inclusive economic growth in Kadoma and the the surrounding mining districts.
