• *Glo Queens | Zana Khay*

This week for Africa Day & Culture Month, GloQueens celebrates *Zana Khay* — the visionary founder of _A Tribe Called Zimbabwe_.

Nomakhosazana Khanyile Ncube, known as Zana Khay, is an architect, poet, former Miss Bulawayo, and cultural activist turning Zimbabwe’s heritage into wearable art. Through her brand, she revives traditional Ndebele and Shona aesthetics using Nguni cowhide, goat hide, leather, beads, and cowry shells — all handmade, so every piece is one of a kind.

Her work is more than fashion. It’s storytelling. From reimagining 1890s Shona wear in her _Chiedza_ collection to creating red-carpet pieces that make women feel royal, celebrated, and proud of their roots, Zana is preserving culture while pushing it forward.

These attires are also gaining popularity at Roora and Lobola ceremonies, where brides and families are choosing authentic, handcrafted pieces to honor tradition with a modern touch. It’s culture being lived, not left behind.

For Africa Day, her message hits home: celebrating the diversity of Zimbabwe’s 16 tribes and the shared values that unite us as one.

Zana Khay is slaying in her field, shattering the idea that culture belongs in the past, and empowering others to wear their identity with pride.

  • GLOQUEEN TUESDAY
    _Celebrating Colonel Miniyothabo Francisca Baloyi-Chiwenga_

This Tuesday, GLOQUEENS honors a woman who made Zimbabwe proud on the global stage.

Last year in 2025, Colonel Baloyi-Chiwenga made history as *Zimbabwe’s first-ever Miss Universe judge*, securing an elite spot on the *Selection Committee for the 74th Miss Universe Thailand*. From serving her nation in uniform to sitting among global decision-makers, she showed the world that Zimbabwean women lead with both discipline and grace.

She carries the flag with pride—whether in military regalia, elegant formal wear, or vibrant traditional attire that celebrates Zimbabwe’s culture and identity. She’s not just representing; she’s opening doors for the next generation of African women to step into spaces they were once told were out of reach.

Colonel Baloyi-Chiwenga’s achievement is more than a title. It’s proof that when Zimbabwean women walk into the room, they don’t shrink—they shift the room.

Here’s to a GloQueen who shatters glass ceilings, empowers others, and reminds every girl that no stage is too big for her voice.

Age 14: University of Zimbabwe. Youngest student in Africa.
Age 18: BSc Accountancy Honours. Youngest UZ graduate ever.
Age 20: Masters in Accountancy. Chartered Accountant.

  • It's Tuesday and you know what that means! We're shining a spotlight on our #GloQueens - women who are breaking barriers and making waves globally!

Today, we're featuring the incredible Malala Yousafzai! Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate, awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014. She was born on July 12, 1997, in Mingora, Swat Valley, Pakistan. Malala gained international recognition for her advocacy work, particularly after surviving an assassination attempt by the Taliban in 2012, when she was just 15 years old. Her memoir, "I Am Malala," became a bestseller, and she has since founded the Malala Fund, an international non-profit organization that advocates for girls' education.
