GOOD DEEDS: Musavengane Sponsors 20 Vulnerable Learners Through Grade 7
Twenty vulnerable children will have their school fees paid through to Grade 7 after Ambassador Apphia N. Musavengane announced an education support package during Day of the African Child commemorations at Louis Mountbatten on Wednesday.
Speaking as Guest of Honour, Musavengane said the support would be provided through the Bridging Gaps Foundation. The foundation also donated 10 laptops and distributed school packages to children who attended the event.
Cash prizes were awarded to outstanding young performers, with the first prize winner receiving US$500, second place receiving US$300 and third place receiving US$150.
Addressing the gathering, Musavengane encouraged children to prioritise education, discipline and respect for cultural values, saying these were important foundations for future success.
She also highlighted the importance of preserving Zimbabwean cultural values and identity, principles that have been promoted through programmes led by First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa.
Musavengane commended initiatives supporting vulnerable children and communities, including programmes implemented through the Angel of Hope Foundation.
The Day of the African Child is commemorated annually across Africa to promote children’s rights, welfare and access to education.
