Edition 1 | African Month Special

    1. Lupita Nyong’o
    Actor | Producer | Storyteller

Born in Mexico to Kenyan parents and raised in Nairobi, Lupita Nyong’o brought African resilience to the global stage with her Oscar-winning role as Patsey in 12 Years a Slave, 2013.

Her portrayal captured the raw endurance and dignity of enslaved Africans — a story rooted in our continent’s history, even as it unfolded abroad. For African Month, Lupita reminds us why reclaiming and telling our stories matters.

Why she matters: She opened doors for African talent in Hollywood while staying deeply connected to her Kenyan roots.

Watch: 12 Years a Slave, Black Panther, Us

    2. Idris Elba
    Actor | Director | Musician

British-Sierra Leonean Idris Elba stepped into the shoes of Nelson Mandela in Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, 2013, delivering a performance that honored Madiba’s patience, strength, and vision for a united South Africa.

Elba consistently uses his platform to spotlight African and diaspora stories, from Beasts of No Nation to producing African music and film projects.

Why he matters: He embodies the global African voice — bridging continents through craft and advocacy.

Watch: Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Beasts of No Nation, Luther

Join us this Friday on Cinema Nights as we dive deeper into their work and what it means for African storytelling today.

  • By public demand, it’s back!

    _GloTv x Cinema Nights Presents_

    BEE’S WINE TASTING ADVENTURE

It’s not every day a birthday becomes a journey. For Blessing “Bee” Makamu, it did.

She chose Cape Vines — not just for the view, but for the wine. Bee loves it, studies it, and dreams of crafting her own brand one day. So the Makamu family made her day about that dream.

What started as a birthday celebration turned into a wine tasting adventure through the heart of the Cape. Laughter, family, new flavors, and memories poured into every glass.

This is Bee’s story — told one sip at a time.

    Screening again today:
    22 May 2025

  • The God Who Sees Me
    _By Apostle Nomusah Ganyani_

Genesis 16:13 says, _“You are the God who sees me,”_ Hagar said, _“for I have now seen the One who sees me.”_ As I reflect on this verse, I’m reminded of God’s unwavering attention to His children. He sees us in our darkest moments, our greatest triumphs, and everything in between.

As the Pioneer of The Ruth Generation, I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative power of God’s presence.

Through my journey, I’ve learned that God’s gaze upon us is not merely observational — it’s actively engaged. He sees our struggles, our fears, and our dreams. And in His seeing, He acts.

    *To every woman listening:*
Hagar was alone, overlooked, and counted out — yet God met her in the wilderness and called her by name. That same God sees you today. He sees the weight you carry in silence, the prayers you whisper at night, the strength you show even when you feel broken.

You are not unseen. You are not forgotten. You are not disqualified by your past, your pain, or your position. The God who saw Hagar sees you, values you, and is already moving on your behalf.

Rise, daughters of God. Walk with your head high, because the One who sees you is also the One shaping you for more.

_May every woman here know today: You are seen. You are loved. You are called._
