The Cooperator is a digital magazine redefining the conversation on Cooperative Finance in Africa. Hosted on allWomen.africa and coops.africa, and proudly anchored by the Zimbabwe Women’s Microfinance Bank (ZWMB), the magazine serves as a knowledge hub and marketplace for cooperative growth, financial inclusion, and capital formation.
It is not just a publication—it is a movement that seeks to professionalize and expand cooperative finance as a viable, sustainable, and profitable investment discipline for Africa’s social and economic transformation.
A New Voice for Cooperative Finance
Africa’s cooperative movement has long stood at the heart of community development, empowering millions through shared ownership and mutual support. Yet, access to capital and structured financial markets has often lagged behind. The Cooperator bridges that gap by promoting awareness, transparency, and participation in cooperative investments—especially through the Co-operative Debenture Exchange (CDE).
Once fully licensed as a securities exchange, the CDE will allow cooperatives to issue and trade Cooperative Debentures (CDEs)—a new class of investment instruments representing collective strength, trust, and productivity. Until licensing is complete, CDEs can already be purchased over-the-counter (OTC) via allWomen.africa (for women-led cooperatives) and coops.africa (for the broader cooperative network).
Through its features, editorials, and investor education programs, The Cooperator will showcase the CDE as an emerging African asset class, inviting both local and international investors to participate in the cooperative economy.
