    Trevor Ncube
_Chairman, Alpha Media Holdings | Host, In Conversation with Trevor | Defender of Press Freedom_

He bet on truth when it was expensive.

Trevor Ncube built Alpha Media Holdings into one of Zimbabwe’s biggest independent media groups. _NewsDay, The Standard, The Zimbabwe Independent, Southern Eye_ — all under one roof, all committed to holding power accountable.

He’s also the host of _In Conversation with Trevor_, where presidents, CEOs, and change-makers sit down for the kind of interviews that actually make headlines. Calm questions. Hard truths. No spin.

From Harare to Johannesburg, he’s chaired newsrooms, survived shutdowns, and still showed up to publish the next day. A businessman, yes. But more than that — a believer that a free press is the backbone of a free society.

    *Glo Spotlight Takeaway:*
    Spotlights don’t follow trends.
They find the people building institutions in the storm, and let integrity do the talking.

    _Thursday Feature: MSU Law Students_

In 2024, Midlands State University made history on the continent.

The MSU Law team of Watson Tonderai Somerai and Michelle Patricia Chiwanga, coached by Claudios Makwara, won the 33rd Christof Heyns African Human Rights Moot Court Competition in Kigali, Rwanda. It was the first time a Zimbabwean university took the title.

The competition tests students on human rights law, advocacy, and legal argument against universities from across Africa. MSU’s win showed the strength of Zimbabwean legal training and put the university’s students on the continental map.

Even though this happened in 2024, it’s still worth spotlighting. Wins like this inspire the next batch of law students and prove that Zimbabwean talent can compete and win at the highest level.

Congratulations to Watson, Michelle, and Coach Makwara for raising Zimbabwe’s flag high.

_Zimbabwe’s Pageantry Queens: Rising, Reigning, and Redefining the Global Stage_

This Wednesday, we spotlight on a moment Zimbabwe will never forget. 2025 wasn’t just another year for pageantry — it was *Zimbabwe’s historic breakthrough* on the world stage.

From Miss Universe to Miss Earth, Zimbabwean queens stood tall across *10 major international pageants*, carrying the flag with elegance, intellect, and unshakeable confidence:

*Miss Africa | Miss International | Universal Woman | Miss Universe | Miss World*
*Miss Grand International | Miss Cosmo | Top Model of the World | Miss Africa International | Miss Earth*

And the results spoke for themselves:
    - *Miss International Zimbabwe*: 1st Runner-Up
    - *Miss Cosmo Zimbabwe*: Top 10
    - *Miss Universe Zimbabwe*: Top 30
    - *Miss World Zimbabwe*: Top 40

These aren’t just placements. They’re proof that Zimbabwe is no longer knocking on the door — we’re walking through it.

Behind the crowns are real women with real stories. _“Beyond the Crown”_ by Miss Universe Zimbabwe captured it perfectly: real stories, the journey, the impact, and what comes after. Queens like *Sakhile Dube, Lyshanda Moyas, Lisa Sibanda, and Yolanda Chimbarami* are showing that beauty is only the beginning. Leadership, advocacy, and cultural pride are the legacy.

Zimbabwe’s pageantry scene has shifted from participation to domination. We’ve gone from being the underdog to being the nation others watch, study, and respect.

This is more than a win for the queens. It’s a win for every Zimbabwean girl who now sees herself reflected on the global stage.

*Zimbabwe rises. Zimbabwe shines. Zimbabwe leads.*

4 Zimbabwean Sommeliers Who Took on the World Blind

Today we’re spotlighting one moment that changed everything: _Blind Ambition_.

Tinashe Nyamudoka, Joseph T Dhafana, Pardon Taguzu, and Marlvin Gwese came together as a team with no funding, no industry backing, and a goal that sounded crazy — compete at the World Blind Wine Tasting Championships in France. They trained in Harare, blind tasting with what they had, and crowdfunded their way to the global stage.

They walked into a room of the world’s best sommeliers and held their own. That moment put Zimbabwean wine on the map and proved our palates belong anywhere.

    Here’s who they are individually:

*1. Tinashe Nyamudoka – Kumusha Wines*
Sommelier turned founder. His brand Kumusha is built on African identity, premium blends, and telling Zimbabwean stories through every bottle.

    *2. Joseph T Dhafana – Mosi Wines & Spirits*
First black African to win Best Sommelier in South Africa. He brought that expertise home to create Mosi — bold, rooted, and internationally recognized.

    *3. Pardon Taguzu – Madzimbahwe*
Educator and blender. Pardon created Madzimbahwe to make wine relatable to African palates, using local fruit and flavors we actually grew up with.

*4. Marlvin Gwese – Mukanya Wines*
Storyteller and hospitality pro. Mukanya celebrates Zimbabwean culture, with every label and sip rooted in heritage.

One team. Four brands. One message: Zimbabwean excellence doesn’t wait for permission.

Watch _Blind Ambition_DocuFilm on Amazon Prime Video.
